Import problems FCP – P2 to quicktime
I imported video footage from 2 16gig P2 cards using Final Cut 5.1.4, The footage showed up and I deleted the video from the P2 card to shoot more.
After this I realized there was three clips missing. I went into the capture scratch and the files are there, however they will not open as quicktime movie files, and it also doesn’t note their size. When I try to import them into final cut it reads.
“File Error: 1 File(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.”
The weird thing is all three files are 3.9 Gigs each. I think there was some sort of import error, but I’m not sure how it happened. Is there a way to fix, repair the footage if I don’t have the P2 footage anymore.

Well…that’s a problem. If you didn’t backup your P2 card, you are hosed. That is the FIRST THING you need to do. Do you shoot to tape, capture, then reuse the tape? No. So you need to backup the P2 card, the FULL contents of the card, to separate folders. Then import from those folders. Archive those folders to a hard drive, or LTO backup…those are your master tapes.
Sorry, but there is nothing you can do now. That footage is gone.
Wait, do those files open in Quicktime?
