Problem Transferring p2 via firewire in Snow Leopard
O.K…so while I’m waiting for a Snow leopard fix I’m trying to offload via hvx200a firewire in fcp 5.4.1. I import via “Import from Panasonic p2”. I drag the clips to the queue window. The arrow goes for about 10 seconds then stops. It says queue idle. I’m going nuts. Can anyone help? Please please…I need to get this stuff into fcp asap.
By the way regarding the Dueladapter I spoke to the folks at Duel and they said that the rights for the adapter had been bought by Apple so I guess the ball’s in Apple’s court as far as a SL driver fix. When I called Mac tech support they’re basic answer was “I dunno”.

FCP 5.1 isn’t supported under Snow Leopard.

Hey Shane, thanks so much for the quick reply. I guess that explains it…even though fcp is working well (maybe better) in every other way…captures tape, etc. So if I go back to plain ‘ol Leopard the camera/firewire p2 transfer should work fine?

Should yes. FCP 5.1 and SL is sporatic…not stable.

Hey Shane, Hate to keep bugging you but I’m based in India now (https://www.10directions.org) and my usual tech buddies in L.A. are far far away. I can’t find my Leopard disc…will all this work in Tiger?

Yes. FCP 5.1 was released when Tiger was. So get to 10.4.11 and all should be well.
