FCP compatibility with HVX
Hello,
I’m hoping I can edit footage from an HPX200 (P2) on the version of Final Cut I currently have which is FCP HD 4.5… will that suffice or do I need to upgrade? If I do need to upgrade, what FCP version works with the HPX?
Also, I’m WAY overdue for a CPU upgrade, I have a Dual 1.42 GHz G4 with 2 MB of memory… will this prevent me from editing with HVX footage.

Yeah you’ll go through Import Panasonic P2 I believe rather than the far more usable Log and Transfer dialogue. I’d suggest an upgrade to FCP 7- it’s only $299…

If you do upgrade to FCP 7, you will need an Intel Mac. If you are making a living editing, upgrading will be a good investment.

Support for P2 HD didn’t come until FCP 5.0.4. So you need to upgrade.

that is right. in order to ingest the p2 content u must have fcp 5.1.2 or higher.
solid state memory is the future.
