AG-HPX170.. AJ-PCD10.. transfer problems..
We have an AG-HPX170 camera and an AJ-PCD10 card reader on loan from a sister station. We are trying to transfer clips to a 1st-gen Macbook Pro. We cannot get either the camera or the reader to show up as a readable drive in either Finder or FCP’s Log and Transfer.
We first connected the camera from its FW400 connector to the Macbook’s FW800 connector with a 6pin-to-9pin cable. We then went into the Camera Menu and under OTHER FUNCTIONS set PC MODE to ‘1394 HOST’. We then hit the MODE button once to set to MCR, then again for two seconds to put it into PC Mode. Nothing showed on the Mac desktop, in Disk Utility or FCP’s Log and Transfer. We also tried connecting with a 6pin-to-6pin cable with no difference.
We know the cable is working, because if we manually play a clip out off the camera it does show in the LOG AND CAPTURE window of Final Cut in real-time.
We next tried the card reader. This unit connects through regular USB connection. The Mac detects the drive itself (it shows in Disk Utility) but it pops up a prompt saying it can’t read off the drive. A colleague suggested we download P2 drivers from the Panasonic site. There seemed to be different drivers for specific P2 units, but none of them matched our camera and/or reader.
Any ideas how to get things going here? I am guessing that it is probably something stupid we are overlooking.
