    hi all,
Thrusday I’m going to shoot some greenback footage with the hpx170 through sdi-prores. I got a few questions:

    1. Which kind of preset on the camera should I use (try to avoid blurring during motion)?
    2. Is it better to shoot in 720p or 1080p?
    3. Can I do slowmo through sdi (never tried before)?
    4. Is it advisable to rotate the camera 90degrees (with dutch head)?(I got only one actor).

I’m going to composite it on Shake.

Thanks in advance for the answer

I don’t know the 170, but it’s probably similar to our HPX500. We’ve used it for a number of successful green screen shoots. We’ve used 720P. 30P will look smoother than 24P. Keeping it progressive helps out as you don’t have to deal with interlace blur. I have no idea about slomo with SDI. I imagine it should work. Try it and let us know. I don’t think you need to rotate the camera (unless talent is going to jump in the air). But many people do it. I think it’s more trouble than it’s worth. It’s way more important to know how to light the green screen and pull the key properly.

    Thanks Jhon for the help.
I found difficult to find the exact prest in FCP (I got only Aja Kona 720 50p) for capturing slowmotion. (I’ve never foud the Aja Kona 720 25p capture preset).
As far as I know hpx500 and hpx170 shares the same menu setting: could you tell me which preset and settings did you choose(like detail, detail core, pedestal etc..)?

We recorded in DVCPro HD and used one of the Cine scene files (#5 or 6, I think). It was the one with more contrast. We didn’t mess with and of the specific settings like detail. We do most of our keying in AE with Keylight. Our edit sequence was DVCPro HD 23.98 and the video out was AJA Kona 720p59.94. I’m no expert in PAL so maybe someone can jump in with that advice.
