  • Storage case for HPX170

I searched this forum for the word “case” and found a few hits, but didn’t see anything specific to this camera. I don’t know how the form factor of the HPX170 compares with the old HVX200, they seem similar.

Anyway I am in need of a storage case for an HPX170, I have never been in the market for something like this so I don’t know if I buy something made just for this camera or if I cut out my own foam. In either case I still wouldn’t know where to start.

Recommendations are appreciated. I’m thinking that a hard case would be best for storage, it would facilitate stacking.

I’m a fan of the Pelican 1520. It fits the camera, chargers, batteries, cards and a few other misc items. It’s very sturdy and can be carried on airplanes and stowed in the overhead bins.

I use the Lowe Pro Pro Trekker AW. It fits my camera, batteries, charger, wide angle lens, about 10 tapes, wireless mic system and batteries, shotgun mic and softie, shock mount, head phones, 20′ XLR cable, filters paper and a stick of gum. Plus, I can put it on my back and my hands are free to open doors, carry my lights, etc. totally worth every dime I paid.

Thank you again for the suggestion, and I know that I don’t know enough to question your advice, but I now have the 1520 and it seems to me that the case isn’t tall enough to hold this camera.

    Camera sideways:

    Camera upright:

It seems like it could fit in the sideways position, but with only very little foam underneath the camera.

Am I just looking at it wrong?
