  • P2 footage import errors (Shot on HPX-500)

Hey everyone so here the deal I just received footage shot on an HPX-500 720p24. I have about 12 hours I am trying to ingest into FCP, some of the footage is importing and other footage is coming up with a stop sign/exclamation. The problem that I am having is that some of the footage has been imported on set and when I go back to the disc image and try to import the same footage it now comes up with the sign. I have researched this and have tried the suggestions in the apple article about the HPX-500, and have also tried to import less than 10 minutes and it still errors out. The camera op also said while shooting he experienced this while importing from the camera and his solution was to eject the P2 card and reinsert it and then it would work just fine. I have also tried to open the footage in Premiere CS4 and it’s not working there either. Lastly I tried it on a Macbook Pro and the same problem.

Thinking about using Shotput… any thoughts on this mess?

    Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by the disk image?

The camera guy made disk images of each P2 card using toast.

Hmm, there are certianly some creative archiving solutions out there. Do any of the clips work from those disk images or are they all busted?

About half of the clips are fine? The others are corrupt as you can see in my most recent post.

OK. I am going to move to the other post, but next time, just one post will do about the same issue.

It helps everyone keep the probelm straight and will help anyone that searches for this in the future.
