  • HVX 170 in SD – image becomes “more tele”

Posted by Hong Tang on February 9, 2009 at 10:17 am

    Hi,

I just got hold of a demo unit of the HPX172 (the HPX170 equivalent in my region) days ago to play with, impressive camera indeed.

When I switched the recoding mode to SD, i found that the image shown became “more tele” or zoomed in, although the zoom level remain physically the same. At first i suspect it was the down conversion settings or the build in monitor not showing the whole image area. After checking the menu settings and view the video on the Pana LH2600W through the SDI connection, the problem remained the same. Am i missing something here or this is the way it is?

    Plesae advise. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the difference of going from 16×9 to 4×3? Yeah, that’s going to happen.

thanks for the response, jeremy, but no, both are in 16×9. thats what intrigue me. I am using both HPX2100 and Z1, i don’t have this problem when recording in SD for these two cameras.

Hope this info will help you to probe further 🙂

    Can you post screen grabs?

There’s less resolution in SD there fore you won’t get as much picture. You will have to adjust accordingly.
