I’m hoping someone could help me determine the best possible and fastest workflow for P2 shooting, editing, and compositing.

I’m looking at the Aja Kona 3 card and the P2 AG-HPG10 with SDI out to eliminate the 1280 x 1080 frame size and unnecessary conversion in-between editing and still capture a true 1920 x 1080 image.

Here’s a description of what I had in mind. Mac Pro 8 core with AJA Kona 3 card to work with Final Cut and Adobe products then install Vista 64 under bootcamp and run windows drivers for Aja Kona so I can use my 8 core’s while compositing in Eyeon Fusion and XSI 7.0 leaving an additional HP 9300 Quad core for network renders for Fusion and XSI. Then when the renders are finished boot back to Mac and finish on Final Cut with extra help from the Aja Kona card.

Has anyone tried this type of workflow?

I’ve just started working on a project that requires alot of green screen work multiple scenes shot twice a week and delivered for a daily internet show. I’m trying to prevent a lot of file conversions to work in different programs.

Have you considered moving over to a camera that actually shoots 1920×1080 such as the HPX03000? Sounds like a lot of extra workflow and equipment just to get a specific frame-resolution, and an upconvert at that. Probably not the best way to go for a composite heavy show.

I myself had pondered this question as well…your question led me to investigate further………

For a Kona 3…I was told by AJA support that you CAN use the Xena 2Ke drivers (v3.5 32-bit) on a dual-boot mac pro WinXPPro setup. I am now racing off to test/install this myself. This would be an interesting addition to our capabilities as we already use cross-stripe to allow our raids to be cross-platform capable in our dual-boot systems.

Will let you know how it works.

I edit video. I post sometimes.

I play drums. I drink scotch.
    I like TV.

    Done typing now.

I am trying to get the P2 card to work on a Vista Laptop Toshiba A300 with 64 bit Windows Home Premium and a Duel Adapter. The Duel Adapter gets recognized, but the Device manager shows that the Mass Storage Device(Presumably P2) has no driver even though I installed the 64 Bit Vista version from the Panasonic site. The cards worked on XP and Leopard on other Laptops but not on this one. The Panasonic site looks like there is no help at all available there. Is there any way to get it running?
    Thanks

Did you ever figure out your problem with the driver not loading for the duel adapter p2 card issue. I’m having the same exact problem and panasonic is no help.
