FS100 and P2 Questions
Thank you, thank you. I finally got my first P2 card and I like it. I have been using the FS100 up till know and will still use it. Now that I am shooting P2 I have been going back into Barry Green’s book and learning. I want to make sure I have this right. 720p on the FS100 is double the drive space as 720pn on the P2?
If I read the book right, and I shoot with the FS100 at 30p, I am going to have 60 fps and will have to distill the footage down correct. Should I use cinema tools or FCP5 to distill down?
My FS100 has the latest firmware and codecs/updates.

I’d check with Focus. I was under the impression they could now ingest some of the other modes. But 30p has no pulldown to remove, what you shoot is what you get.

I thought that too, after the 4.0 firmware update. I will call and ask.

PN will not work with the Firestore, in fact it does not work with firewire so no signal will be going out of the camera. But the new firestore has its own removal scheme use the camera is set to 30p or 24p. as it records only the desired frames and gives you the longer record times. The problem (not the cameras or Focus’ fault, just the way it is) you cannot have the P2 card and the firestore recording the same way at the same time. One or the other will not be in the “native” format.
