Output DVCPro50 over FireWire / DV?
We shoot 576i 16:9 over DVCPRO50.
We have a Sony DSR-45P DVCAM-deck connected using Firewire for monitoring video.
What settings in FCP should we have so we can output the timeline/canvas over FireWire using the DSR-45P?
We had the HPX500 for test shooting and managed to get it work at that time. Now we can’t find what setting(s) to modify…
Any help greatly appreciated!

You can play out DVCPRO 50 over firewire, but not through a DV device. It needs to be a DVCPRO 50 deck, or DVCPRO HD deck…one capable of decoding the signal you are sending to it. DV decks and cameras cannot decode DVCPRO 50.

Somehow we managed to view the footage recorded in DVCPRO50. However, I think there’s a compressor preset in FCP that I wonder about. If I recall correctly, it’s set for DVCPro50.
What happens when you use LOT in FCP and the preset are wrong? Will the QT files have wrong codec, or will FCP / LOT maintain the original DVCPRO50 set i camera?

Log and Transfer? That imports at whatever resolution the footage was shot…no recompression. So no matter what settings you have in FCP, it will import as shot. Is this coming from P2?

Yep, comes from offloaded P2 cards.

The only thing now is that I always end up with red stripes when I drag P2 clips onto the timeline.
If you can tip me on what presets (modified or not) I should use, I’d be very glad!
