P2 files MXF files
We shot some green screen with the HVX the other day but when we tried to load the files into FCP we got a message that said we could not because we did not have the proper software video card. My computer is a Mac Pro Intel and should allow anything we do. We are running FCP 5 which has the P2 import. What’s wrong? Also the icons only show up as the clapboard quicktime and do not show what the clip looks like on the compter. When the files are changed on another computer to H.264 files they work and are visible and editable on my computer. If I open QuickTime and then open one of these files they only show black but the audio is present and audible. What’s wrong? HELP! Also After Effects will not let me export 1280 x 720 HD on the same computer I get errors. What codecs do I need to make this work? Do I need to install Panther again? I am running OS 10.5.4.

What version of FCP5 are you running?
MXF files will not playback in anything until they are transfer (in which they became QT files) or if you have software installed that can read MXF files, like Raylight.

You need to use the LOG AND TRANSFER window. Are you using this workflow?
Oh…with FCP 5 it is called P2 IMPORT…under the FILE menu.
