  P2 Card Proxy bin Files

  Hello collegues,

  I’m about to integrate some export workflows from P2 cards. However the proxy folder contains a .mp4 file and a companion .bin res.. So my questions are about the sense of the .bin files.
  – What information does the .bin file contain (I couldn’t find any information from Panasonic)?
  – Do I need to export it together with the .mp4 proxy (having restoring of full information in mind)?

  Hi,

  The entire Contents folder should be moved as one big folder and the sum of its parts should remain within the subfolders. Do not change any of it. Programs that can take advantage of these proxies will be able to read them where they are and not where you may choose to relocate. Just leave the entire directory as it is and transfer the folder as it was created.

  I hope that answers the question, but if not, pleas ask again in a different way.

  Hi Jan,

  thanks for your comment. I proposed to leave the P2 content as a block on exports as you supposed.
  But I wonder for the technical need for the .bin, however.

  Ok, I sort of found out what the BIN-files are: they hold the timecode for each frame.

  In a 28-frame clip, there are 28 byte arrays like this:
  14 43 21 19 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 33 00 00 00 84 d9 e5 02 21 54 05 df 00 80 45 82 30 dc 50 01 c4 e9 e5 02 21 54 05 a4

  My clip starts at a timecode of 19:21:43:14, which matches the first 4 bytes of the array.

  But I have idea what the other bytes represent. Anyone?
