need External P2 card reader.
Posted by Lars Wikstrom on May 21, 2008 at 12:10 amIt has been a while since I saw any posts on the external 1 P2 card reader that was firewire or USB 2. I just updated to a new macbook pro and as we know it lacks the P2 slot. Who sold those readers? I know Panny makes one but it is way more then I need and very pricey for what it is.
Anyone remember what company it was?
Thanks!

May 21, 2008 at 12:18 amYou may be thinking about the Duel Adapter from Duel Systems. It plugs into the Express 34 port. It is the only one that I am aware of and it does work quite well. I wish someone made one that was FW800 or USB2 but to my knowledge no one does. The Duel Adapter is around $100.

March 22, 2010 at 2:33 amThe Duel Adaptor you’re talking about adapts to a PCI Express Card right? I just got a 15″ MacBook Pro and it doesn’t have Express Card slot either. So I’m still out of luck, right? Am I going to have to get the P2 reader that Panasonic is putting out in April that will cost around $350?? I hope not.

August 13, 2010 at 7:03 pmNewer Macs, unfortunately, do not come with the Express slot, so yes, you have to get the new $350 one. The old external adaptor that plugs into the Express slot is also incompatible with Snow Leopard, so even if you have an older laptop, if you upgraded your OS it will be incompatible. This happened to me 🙁
