  AVC-Intra Codec Converted to MXF Files better?

  I wanted to get everyones opinion on editing in the original MXF files in FCP. My question is only for the AVC-INTRA codec though. I know that if i shoot in AVC-Intra 1080PN that i have to ingest and transfer to ProRes, but would there be a difference in quality + HD space if i go through Raylight to the MXF.mov files? Technically i compress to ProRes and in Raylight there is none. Also would FCP even be able to read it at that point and is it even worth it?

  Hi,

  If you use Raylight to edit from the AVC-Intra files, you would have to have something in the computer to support the AVC-Intra codec. Since there is not, I don’t think this is going to work.

  If for some reason it did, the differences would be that the metadata would still be there and the size of the file would be smaller.
