  • Lift Gamma only in shadows ?

Posted by Harvey Brepson on April 17, 2013 at 1:33 pm

    Hi,
Is there a way of getting control over gamma in the shadows, mids, and highlights in Adobe After Effects or Premiere ?
I would like to increase the gamma in the shadow parts, but I don’t if it’s possible.
When I lift the gamma, the hole image is concerned.
Could you please help me ?

    Thank you.

The best tool for color correction in AE, Effects > Synthetic Aperture > Color Finesse. Very powerful, color correction software, that has individual controls for Shadows,Midtones and Highlights.

You could use the Curves effect [link].

Try using the shadow/highlight effect in AE. I find that usually does the trick for me.

Thank you for your helpful answers, but the one that works best for me is “Color Finesse”.

Glad we could help. Great thing about AE as you saw, there about 50 different ways to skin a proverbial cat with it.
