HVX200-MacBookPro-Is this real
Over the weekend (still waiting on delivery of P2 card and Barry’s book) I had a play date with our new HVX200 and MacBook Pro. Over the last couple of months I have read a bunch of don’ts on this forum, so I am having trouble feeling”safe” in what I accomplished over the week end.
I plugged our HVX200 (batteries/all auto/rec 1080) into a 15′ firewire cable then into our Mac BookPro (2.4 – 15′ 4g ram) then using FCP capture now or Veescopelive captured HD1080i to our USB2powered/attached 2.5 160g external drive…
Can you capture HD to an external 2.5″ 5400rpm usb powered /usb connected drive and feel safe about NO dropouts. Using either Veescope or FCP (FCP with abort on drop out on) I recorded video for hours with out any problems or drop out. Is this considered ‘within’ specs. Could I expect same performance on location with paying clientel?
Some numbers I remember is 6.5g left on the HD recorded 9 minutes of HD, is this about right with expectations?
These two pieces of gear make for an awsome little HD interview package. I was just recording in available light, everything on auto and was ammazed at the image and camera mic response. I should be able to cut my light kit in half.
