Just got my HPX-500. Yay! I recorded a short clip to P2 card. Played it down in MCR mode good going so far.
Downloaded latest P2 drivers installed on Mac Pro.
Inserted card into PCD10 (5 card reader), Mac Pro/OS10.4.9 responded with: “can not read card do I want to format?”
    Card won’t mount.
I tried connecting camera to Mac via USB… no problem, card mounts.
Back to PCD10, hardware info USB bus confirms connection of reader.
I can’t figure what’s up. Anybody have an idea what could be going on?
    Appreciate the help.

    Thanks and best regards

I assume this is a 16GB card? You probably need to update the PCD10’s firmware.

We just took delivery on the PCD20 – 5 card reader, same thing, except has FW800 (SWEET!) and all my 16 gig cards work just fine. Fast, fast fast. Had been pulling straight off the camera via the USB port, uhg.

    Thanks Barry…
I called Panasonic support today and was informed yes if it’s 16gig cards, firmware update a must.
BUT you need a PC… I have 6 Macs in my studio nary a windows box. Took it to my local computer guy who updated for 20 bucks.
    Problem solved.
Hey Barry are you going to publish a book or create a training DVD for the HPX 500?
I would really love to have some reliable tips on the operation of this camera.

    Thanks again,

    It’s definitely in the plans…

In the end, how did you install the firmware, please? I am having the same problems with a pcd10 I just purchased used. Thank you for any advice.
