Kernel Panic caused problems with P2 card.
I’m really new at using the HVX200 and the P2 card. I received the P2 card in the mail and Ive installed the driver (from Shane) on my new 2Ghz Intel Core 2 D MacBook with 2Ghz RAM. I recorded some test footage on the P2 card sucesfully and connected the camera to the MacBook for the first time. The No Name disk appeared on the desktop and I copied the Contents and Last Clip file to a folder, the test footages were only 900 MB.
Why did it happen to me? I don’t know, in the middle of copying the files over I got the dreaded Kernel Panic and was forced to hard reboot the MacBook.
After that, the mac ould give me an error saying the mounted disk is unreadable. I rebooted twice and finally the disk mounted again. I knew the P2 card is fine because the footage I recorded was still playable on the camera and was able to record.
My second attempt to copy the files failed, this time it copied the first 800kb then it just stopped, refused to copy further no error message nothing, the copy window just stopped at 800kb. So I rebooted again and the 3rd attempted had the same problem. it coppied 600kb this time then stopped but I let it alone for about 5 minutes and finally I got en error saying that not all the files could be copied with an erro code (wish I wrote it down, would that have helped anyway?) Anyway, I noticed the Content File was there but the Last Clip file was not there so I attempted to copy the LastClip file and its been over 30 minutes and it still hasn’t finished copying the file over (0kn of 1kb).
Something is obviously wrong and I know the Kernel Panic caused all of it. Was there something I did wrong? Any idea if it’s the card or the computer thats the problem? What suggestions can I try to fix this and prevent this from happening again? Your help is very much appreciated!

The software I link to is for the PPC version of the software, not the Intel version. You need to go to the Panasonic site and get the Intel drivers.

Also, never put a card in your Mac if it’s not write-protected. I don’t know whether you had it write-protected or not, but make sure that it’s protected before putting it in the computer, that way any kernel freak-out won’t affect your source footage.
