I’ve posted my problem under FCP forum…then I was directed here…quick update on my problems…(some of them)

Spanned file issues. I can’t get them into FCP from the XML files. One spanned file is on one card and in between clips that I have been able to convert to quicktime and get into FCP. The FCP HD manual talks of changing the file name and directing it to where they live, I’ve tried that, but haven’t got that to work…not sure if I’m doing all the steps correctly. So looking for some wisdom. When I rent the camera again, will try putting it back to card and then back into the system. I’m also not able to play the clips, spanned or non, in the P2 import window. I was able to when the actual card was still in and transferring the content folder and such onto the harddrive, but once in, I’m not able to view any clips before converting them.

    Please Help. Will work for…

    thanks,
    travis

    A possible workaround.

I had problems with some spanned clips on my firestore and was able to get them into FCP after use P2 Logger
    https://www.imagineproducts.com/P2log.htm

The demo will only work on the first clip in the folder so ou may have to creat a new folder and just bring in one file at a time.

I copy each P2 card to its own folder.
The CONTENTS and LASTCLIP.txt need to be in each new folder.
Then in FCP 5.1.2 you load up each P2 folder.
You will see one clip in each folder that will say spanned.
You only need to import one or the other.
