Anyone have a good workflow with restoring P2 files and relinking them to a sequence, once the media has been backed-up to another device?

Since redigitizing is a thing of the past, bringing back in clips and auto linking to the timeline, is a bit different.

If the clips were imported into FCP then you would be able to use the Media Manager to relink to the resulting QuickTimes. In other words if you imported into FCP, then deleted the QuickTime but saved the P2 MXF folders, you’d need to reimport the clips, then reconnect the media on your original edit to the resulting QuickTimes from the new MXF import.

If you have FCP 5.1.2 and the media was imported with FCP 5.1.2, you can select the offline clips in the bin, right click to batch capture, then the p2 import window comes up and imports your media for you.

If you have done anything prior to 5.1.2, do what Noah says.

    Very easy.

No problem. I guess you just searched for this? This thread was from a while ago. It’s a handy feature.
