quick format explination questions…
I know this is basic but could someone explain the differences between 720p and 1080i and 1080p. I understand one is interlace but what does all that refer to? Also, how can something be 1080i 24p? Does this not mean it is interlace and progressive at the same time? Which format is better? Does the HVX really capture full 1080? or is is an upconvert so you get bad resolution overall?
I know that is a lot of questions but any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey thanks for the reply Noah but I actually read that article previously and was still a bit confused.
I will narrow it down to two basic questions I have….
1) How does the HVX200 shoot 1080i/24p I don’t understand how you can have 24 progressive frames when it says 1080i. I know it is something simple but I just don’t get it!!!!!
2) Does the CCD in the camera capture all 1080 lines of vertical resolution when it is shooting a 1080 format? Or is it some kind of cross convert!
Thanks for any help…just trying to wrap my head around this stuff!!!

a- Same way the DVX100 works. 24 frames per second layed down with 3:2 pulldown to get a 60i signal. That is explained here:
b- not sure what you mean. The 1080i signal is indeed a standard 1080i signal.
