Any users have problems with 4-pin FireWire cables not fitting snugly into the camera’s 1394 port? Different cables are all loose in the port–however they still make a stable connection most of the time. The same 4-pin connectors all fit snugly in different laptop’s ports.

I sent it in to the Panasonic Repair Facility and they say that it is fine.

    Thanks in advance.

Not really. If this is an issue when your running and gunning I’d suggest looping the cable around the handle on top of the camera or using a velcro strap to better secure it. Also not all Firewire cables are created equal so you might try a few more brands.

I wraped my cable with the fabric side of velcro and then put a loop piece on the battery and put a loop in the cable that causes the cable to push into the connection. Hard to describe, just try it. It helps.

Yes, we need a locking Firewire port.

Mine broke this past week in Katrina territory and we were down for a day until we could make temporary repairs. It is a flimsy connector at best and the metal used to construct it is too soft to handle the constant use. I am a fan of the camera but the simple little things are very annoying. We also had the handle break with the Firestore and a focus monitor attached to it. After taking it apart. we found the metal to be way too thin to handle the torque and the screws on the front part of the handle too shallow to do the job. Beware!

Does anyone have a6 pin fix for this problem?. Is that possible?
And does anyone have a schematic to look at?
    Thanks.
