    hi all-

i’m looking into a trip to shoot stock that would require me to be relatively lightweight, and yet shoot lots of DVCPRO HD quality footage. I’ll be wanting to unload the footage onto a laptop quite a few times, and fedexing external FW HDs home mid trip.

am i correct in thinking that the card slots on last year’s powerbooks will allow import of P2 cards into FCP?
are these slots on the 12, 15 AND 17 inch models?

is there a solution to use the newer macbooks without a bulky adapter?

    thanks

With Powerbooks yes- you can insert a P2 card directly. With MacBooks you can connect via a Firewire cable. If you have extra time at the end of shoot each day and ample P2 cards this should not be a problem.

The 12″ Powerbooks do not have the PCMCIA slot. Only the 15″ and 17″ POWERBOOKS. The Mac Books require that you either come in from the camera, or get a P2 card reader or P2 Store.

Panasonic is working on an adapter for the Mac Book Pro.
