  How to decompose a picture through a custom grid

  Hello, i have to decompose a picture in multiple parts using a grid of objects that I’ve designed and animated.
  How to do it without create multiple masks of the picture but just mapping it on my grid?
  Here is an example

  Why not build a grid in Photoshop and make each cell it’s own alpha guide layer? This may create more layers than you’re use to working with but it will make your grid fit perfectly in comparison to drawing shape layers yourself within AE.
