As far as I know, no. But I think it is a case by case basis. You can shoot great footage with the HVX and get accepted, or you can shoot poorly and get rejected.

I do know of many places refusing HDV as a legit HD format, however. But not one rejecting P2 footage yet.

Just an FYI- P2 is a storage medium not a format. It would be just like saying- ‘do broadcasters refuse to air footage from hard drives.’ It can store any of the many formats the HVX200 shoots. The highest quality is DVCPROHD- same as the Varicam. Many many shows have been broadcast that were originated in DVCPROHD so it’s pretty safe to say it is an acceptable format. That said, all broadcasters have different requirements in format, content, etc.

The reason people question whether or not footage from THIS camera has been accepted, is because it has smaller CCD’s and an inferior lens than the Varicam, the only other camera that shoots DVCPRO HD. In fact, we had to do several tests for a network in order for them to OK footage from this camera. Only when they saw the footage intercut with footage from the Varicam did they OK it’s use.

“Hi,are any broadcasters refusing to air P2 footage?”

The broadcasters here have accepted my BetaSP spots.
Most of the spots I have done the last few years
have been with the DVX100. I have the HVX-200 now
and I can tell you the quality is much better
than the DV tape quality was from the DVX100.

Some of the largest purchases of this camera in one sale haas been to broadcasters, and broadcast groups. I have not heard any one’s footage being rejected based on the fact that it was shot with the HVX200.
