I recently ran a test out of my Power Book using FCP by sending a signal via FW from the FCP timeline to an AJ1200 deck. For some reason their was a sync issue. Component out of the camera worked fine with the same material, however I did notice that the camera did get warm very quicky at it’s base. Has anyone experienced any sync issues when out-putting from FCP?

No there should not be a sync issue, when outputting from FCP to a 1200a deck were the audio and video rendered or did you do a mixdown of the audio within FCP.

can you give more details? 720p footage or something else, is the deck set properly for the content you are working with. What storage? if you are using FW for storage and it was on the same buss as the Deck?

and yes when using the Component out on the x200 it does get warm, and you cannot use the Component out of the camera at the same time as the FW bus.

Thanks for responding Gary. No I just did a straight FW output from Final Cut Pro to the AJ 1200. I didn’t do any mix downs or print to tape. I tried both 1080i out and 720pn out. Both glitched in the same manor. The glitch always occured in the top left quadrant of the screen. Perhaps it’s a FCP issue.

    Nope
that is a problem with the deck, but without seeing the problem I cannot really answer
what does the glitch look like — blocky or off color & noisy?

I am confused though – I tried both 1080i out and 720pn out.
You changed the settings and made sure that FCP was outputting the video correctly?
how are you monitoring the footage ( over FW has a number of issues)

How about a full explanation of the footage, frame rates and settings.
You cannot treat HD as if it is DV footage, It is a sure path to disaster.
