Would this also require SDI out of the computer?

So one card, a converter, and the LCD?

I’m not sure? I think with the proper convertor you can use an LCD directly as a monitor.
    I’m confused with that issue?

    Anyone?

“HDLink connects SDI video directly to any supported DVI-D based LCD computer monitor.”

You need a SDI output, and that requires a card, plus the HDLink as I read it.

This AJA convertor has been recommended. It looks like it converts HD Analog to HD-SDI.

So it would look like this?

    HVX Analog component out> to:
AJA HD10A analog component in> to:
Something that will take the AJA’s HD-SDI?
    Another convertor???

I’m going in circles and it keeps getting more expensive.

I used this method for monitoring with my Varicam. It works, and it is inexpensive compared to Broadcast monitors. I have since upgraded, but I still have my Blackmagic SDI to DVI converter. It is for sale if you are interested.

Has anyone tried using a dell 2405fpw monitor? It has component HD in built in. If you didn’t want to use component in, you could use the HDlink to the monitor. When I get the HVX200, I’d also like to get a 2405fpw (this monitor is capable of displaying 1080p and is 2-300 cheaper than a 23 inch apple) and mount it in a pelican case, so that I can tote it around without having to worry whether it will get damaged.

Until our componet cable was destroyed, we ran the HD analog out to the Dell 2405 and it looked fantastic. I love this monitor and got it on sale at Dell’s website for $849 with 3 year warranty…..can’t beat that! We’re now desperatly trying to locate another componet cable but Panasonic does not know how to get one yet. Anyone with and idea how to get one (HVC200 componet cable) would be a hero.

You are my hero, and I especially like you in that red cape. All kidding aside, the Panasonic product rep had problems getting the calbe as well from Panasonic and he and I both ordered the cable you recommended. Many thanks, and if you need any editing questions answered………..I too have a cape, though now well pressed and a bit tired looking, but still good to go.
