I have shot a variety of frame rates resolutions and some clips in the browser will not work in the playback mode on the camera. I cannot play the clips that have a red number in the top left hand corner The other playable clips have black clip numbers. Anyone know why?

To view the clips in the camera, the recording mode must match the frame rate of the clips.

Correct — look in the bottom left of the thumbnail screen and you’ll see a logo denoting what the format of the clip is. You need to go to camera mode and match menu #5’s REC FORMAT to match the clip you want to play back.

Sounds like a bit of a hassle, but it really only affects you when using multiple formats on the same card — I originally thought it was a big inconvenience, but quickly figured out that the only times I’m really doing multiple formats on the same card is for my various testing purposes. In real-world shooting we almost always pick one format/rec mode and stick with it. And in that case, you’ll never see the red numbers and won’t have to worry about matching the rec format.
