I’m thinking about purchasing the HVX200 but I’m a little concerned with the workflow. I’m used to shooting on tape then digitiziing the tape into the edit system. This leaves a tape backup. Without the tape there is no backup. Any ideas on easily backing up files in the field easily? I’m just curious how the whole workflow of the P2 system is supposed to work with me having to worry about the card crashing and/or my drives crashing.

    Easily? No.

Blu ray or HD DVD holds promise

In expensive HDs are the only way to go now.,

Check out my workflow at http://www.lfhd.net.

It is my blog about working with DVCPRO HD and the HVX-200 and P2 workflows.

    This thread is worth reading.

    It’s basically a primer.

I think the best way right now is to backup to a large hardrive. 250gb hardrives are less than buying DVCPRO HD tapes. If the stuff you are doing is critical back it up twice. 250gb can give you about 250 minutes. Enough for most projects. 2 500gb drives would be enough for most indie features. In a perfect world the hvx would come with 2 4gb cards. Then tape could finally rest in peace.
