Colored block error in P2 ingest
I am a photographer/editor/colorgrader.
Im right now in production shooting a comedy series for DR2 (danish national broadcatst)We are using the Panasonic Ajx 900 P2 camera.
We are shooting in 25p DVCPRO25 16/9 Cinema2 PALIm shooting in 25p to keep the original resolution, dont want to compress unnessererely in post. Im shooting interlaced vertical resolution. Because its for tv. De-interlace or field merge and so on is not an option, why then the progressive camera?.
I want to shoot in cinema2 mode because of the softness of the gamma curve, again to minimize the grading in post.I have random errors in the FCP ingest system.
Colored block errors.
No errors in camera playback.
The errors are random, if you via FCP/PDC10, Ajx 900 camera or
G4 PCMCIA ingest the same take twise, the errors are not nessecerely in the same frames or at all.
I have pics of the setup screens on Ajx 900 and FCP and screen grab of the errors.
And a quicktime with all my settings and errors. If interrested.Im not shooting in DVCPRO50 because of the amount of material we are shoting, cant handle double up of gbs. It would then be over 100gb material every day in 8 weeks thats 4 tb, times 3: one backup, two for the editors. thats 12tb. Thats very time consuming.
Then we also have to merge the sound files with the video files it all takes time that we simply dont have.
If we have to transfer the raw cards aswell, wow!!! At least 5 hours of transfer time.Maybe we are handeling it all wrong but if the errors werent there the workflow we are using is cool. And the editor is happy.
As it is today we are using around 2-3 hours a day to ingest/backup/mergeI use:
