  PCD10 card reader.

  I am having problems mounting my AJ-PCD10 P2 card reader.
  Final cut pro 5.0.4 does not see the P2 files.
  The drivers from Panasonic did not help me.
  My G4 laptop and FCP are happy with the files via the PCMCIA.

  Do I have a broken card reader?
  Its not OSX/FCP ready ?

  On the Mac, you should have the write protect switch on the P2 card in the Protect position. It should mount up easily.

  So simple.Thank you!
  I wish I had known this a long time ago.

  Next question: Is there any way to import from all the cards simultanious?(trying to save time)
  I am very interrested in any other info or workflow experience regarding SPX900/FCP 5.0.4.
  Especially how to keep track on files and scene names, we are shooting a comedy series, a sort of “mockumentary” with a very small crew.
  I will give you a link to an example of our work, when ready.
  I am very exited about the quality of the system, but we are pioneers with P2 on FCP on our television station who are only supporting Avid/PC platforms, Apple no good.
  But we are a small independant group who prefers FCP and with several awards as a quality proof.

  So with protect switch on, there’s no way to empty those cards with cardreader for continous shooting?

  While I am not the expert in editing, right now I am having to keep track of files and such so the fact that they all don’t come in at the same time is fine for me. I am loading then=m onto a hard drive first and cataloging them by cards there. I have the project folder, say Karate, and then the 2 cards that have that footage on them are stored as Card 1 and Card 2. Then when I wish to import I will find that folder and then access the sub folders and then import the contents.

  Once it hits the FCP, it goes back to normal logic inside the NLE.

  So that is my coping method so far, I have about 500 GBs of footage and edited footage to track. Certainly not monumental but enough to give me an initial falvor for how i would go about keeping things together. This way you could actually keep your FCP file in the same folder.

  Jan (if you just have time to answer), how seamless is the footage when same shot continues on another card (1st card gets full and 2nd one continoes)? They will show up as 2 separate files when copied from cards, won’t they?

  Im doing something simular.

  But isnt there a way to give names to the shots in the camera? Like you write, Scene 12, take1, and then the camera gives names to the rest of the clips until you give the scene a new number…. ?
