    Thanks Jan!
That took my mind off things for about two hours but still my ‘authorised Panasonic dealer’ will not answer my emails and he was supposed to ship me my preOrder hvx days ago – we had a deal and I paid full in cash at top price to secure one of his remaining preOrder cameras which now don’t seem to have shipped and I’m left in the dark with a pending assignment.
The excuse that what was or was not shipped on 29th Dec is proprietary information is some cop out, and I have tried to find out directly from my dealer who has my cash in thier bank account but he’s also zip lipped. Not a happy customer and I will be seeking a full refund and cancelling the order by Tuesday if I don’t hear from him.
It is not fair of Panasonic and their dealers to tell the public about these preOrder small shipments on 29th Dec, then when we pay in full in advance to secure one of these gold dust cameras and they don’t materialise when they were supposed to – we are kept in the dark and left guessing! that wouldn’t happen in any business, I’ve never experienced treatment like this in over a decade of broadcast TV work. I’m sure I could sue over this….

Just a quick p.s. re last post I made:
I was not directing any criticism at Jan specifically. I don’t know who to blame specifically, I don’t know who’s tying peoples’ hands and zipping peoples’ lips over the problem of supply.
I do know that Jan has always been most helpful and hard working and professional. I do know that the makers of the HVX200 (designers, engineers, assemblers…) deserve huge credit for their work – practically a Varicam for less than 6,000 dollars – sweet! I do accept that we’re all human and I don’t expect perfection – just respect for me too…

[cashbuyer] “I’m sure I could sue over this….”

    Or not.

I highly doubt that Panasonic guaranteed you one of these units. I think by your own admission, it was a salesman that wanted your money in full gave the promise (and if you gave it to anyone other than one of the gold-plated dealers like B&H, Promax, J&R Camera, etc., you need to reread the fine print in the “Living As A Human” contract (that you received at birth) regarding the caveat emptor clause).

I am now 55 and I can’t recall ever hearing of any pre-order I have made giving me my number in line figured as part of the aggregate body of orders spread across the corporeal body of orders for that specific product from any single manufacturer.

That’s a mighty tall expectation, maybe one bordering on the old adage that “perchance, thou may expecteth just a tad too much.”

That’s my opinion anyway… Others are welcome to theirs.

    Best regards,

    Ron Lindeboom
