This has been the most exciting NAB yet! (for me anyway). I really feel technology is starting to plateau, finally, after the transition from analog to digital and then HD all in the last decade. Investments we make now and in the next few years will start lasting longer. If Father Time could do a big ripple delete of the last decade so we jumped right from betacam to digital HD we would all be better off. Manufacturers and producers alike. It’s been a long hard climb.
Think I’ll jump forums for some more thrills!

Well, we are still down at 8bit colors from digibeta’s 10bits…

Video tech’s moving to the development pace of ict-sector is a kind
    of two bladed sword.
On the other hand you’ll get faster development and on the other
hand new tech is getting old faster and faster.

But I’m not complaining, since the initial investment amounts are
    dropping rapidly.

Couldn’t agree with you more, haven’t been this anxious for news on a new product for a long time. Those of us who have held off on the 25p XL2 and on the limited SD capability of the HDV HVR-Z1 may just find a ‘longer-term’and more flexible HD/SD solution in the HVX200. Sure a 10 bit rival will turn-up eventually, but at this price point and without the need for a deck, makes this product very very interesting for all the projects I can forsee for myself in the coming years… and I love the iPod hat-trick. I’ll be in South Africa this summer and hope it will be on display at MediaTech in Johanesburg in June.
