Those were mockups. The only “product” announced is the HDX200. And that’s the only new camera I expect to see next week at Panasonic.

As for < $10,000 - I think that's got more to do with market speculation promotion than actuall price of the camera, which could be a lot less until you add in the P2 cards. Still, it should be cheaper than Z1 + Deck. Graeme - http://www.nattress.com – Film Effects for FCP

Since those mock-ups were shown Panasonic have decided (quite rightly in my opinion) not to compete in the HDV space but to bring their DV100HD codec to a lower price point. Sister company JVC are staking out the HDV area.

I believe there will be also be a $30k Varicam sports/eng model at NAB as well as the HVX

Panasonic failed to develop own mpeg2 codec able to do 4:2:2 720p60 ?
Why no one used VASA coder, which provides a single-chip HDTV 4:2:2 encoding and decoding solution?
“Low power consumption and low latency are two of the main features on this single chip VASA architecture, with an ability to work in full spec 422P@HL and MP@HL and reduced resolution MP@H-14L environments whilst demonstrating high bit rates up to 300Mbps (TS). The VASA chip processes high quality MPEG-2 video in 1080i, 1080-24P, 720P, 480i and 480P formats with a power consumption of less than 3W. Typical encoder delay (I frame) is 66ms.”
    I’m sure 50Mbps mpeg2 4:2:2 equal in quality to 100Mbps of DVCproHD.
mpeg2 4:2:2 50Mbps as accuisition format for costly P2 card more preferably than 100Mbps of DVCproHD.
But in this case for editing need intermediate codec as CineForm.

They didn’t ‘fail’, they decided not to, for very good reasons I am sure.
