dealer mentioned a tape drive as well…
On the DVx user site someone mentioned a dealer told them it would have tape record built in.
Obvioulsy this is all speculation at this point, but having the option of tape or P2 means
you can shoot as always, until the P2 prices drop.
I definitly see the wisdom of what Panasonic is doing (tape drive or not.)
And if it’s P2 only and it’s a bit crippling for those of us on a budget for the first year, so be it.
AT least in the big cities- it will be possible to rent P2 carts for shoots when needed.
Visionary paradigms often require some time for the end user to adopt
I remember I used to hate OSX, the dock, some of the missing features, it slowness, etc, until after a few weeks I started to really see how It was actually much better thought (and efficient) out than OS9. Sure we suffered for a while with a systems that seemed less snappy than OS9, but now with a mature, stable and fast OSX, I couldn’t imagine switching back.
Cudos for Panasonic for having vision, sticking to it, and getting the rest of us to follow. I predict the cam
will be a big a hit at the DVX100. I simply love that camera!
