April 3, 2005 at 1:58 pmThe current price of the 4GB card is $1700. The 8 GB is not avaialable yet. It is due in August. BTW when the 4GB was introduced 4 months ago it was $200. Memory does not have a consistent price.
Hope that helps,
Jan

April 3, 2005 at 2:20 pmI think you mean $2000, Jan? And that in the meantime it’s dropped $300. Lets hope it drops a lot more at NAB….

April 3, 2005 at 2:45 pmHi Graeme,
You know, I just have to start drinking more coffee. 😉 Yes, I meant $2000. Keep in mind that last year in August that was the price of the 2GB Card. Now that card is $900. So we should all keep the price of memory is just dropping. I mean even Hard Drives, I am sure you have seen the Lacie 1 TeraByte Drive for $995. Holy Cow! I remember spending close to that for a 250MB drive 10 years ago.
Anyhow thanks for the correction.
More coffee,
Jan

Next question is can you ‘mix and match’ ie assuming there was more than 1 slot could i have a 4Gig in slot 1 and an 8Gig in slot 2 ? -

April 4, 2005 at 6:52 pmI think the Panasonic rep at a recent demo quoted around $ 3000 for the 60GB device! P2 is definitely not aimed at budget-conscious independent filmmakers – but rather at news corporations and broadcasters with pots of money for all of these “optional” accessories. No matter how Panasonic spin this, P2 is an expensive format, and will remain so for at least another two years.

April 4, 2005 at 7:12 pmI’d hope that’s not the price, as that’s quite ludicrous for a hard drive!!
