  changing default naming scheme.. using hyphens instead of underscores

  is it possible to change the naming scheme of a rendered PNG sequence to use a hyphen instead of a underscore?

  example:
  currently it renders as “compname_00001.png” and I want it to render as “compname-00001.png”

  Its not a lot of work to batch rename afterwards, but a lot of game engines prefer something other than underscore and its just one of those little things I’ve manually been doing for years instead of looking for a smarter way.

  As an aside, Adobe BRidge allows you to batch rename files. Google “adobe bridge file rename” to reach a few good URLs on the subject.

  oh. I had looked in there but foolishly not while I had a PNG sequence preset selected. its really obvious once the render is set up. thanks for the guidance.

  Open the Prefs File in After Effects Folder and then

  Search for say “number”

  and

  Change
  “Sequence number prefix” = “_”
  to
  “Sequence number prefix” = “.”
