    Hi everybody.
I have a question that I need to be answered.
To work with AE (color correctio, motion, etc) with DVCam signal is it better a component or Firewire capture?

    Thanks a lot,
    Paolo

    Hey Paolo,

stick with firewire capture. Using component input means that the DVCAM recording has to go through a digital to analog conversion, then an analog to digital conversion. It would be similar to taking a digital photo, printing it on paper, then scanning it back to a file for use in Photoshop.

    Good luck!

I thought I’d chime in here… I own an FX1 and I learned that while the 4:2:0 mpeg2 the camera writes to dv tape is not the best solution for chromakeying, the component video coming live from the camera is preferable since it is not compressed. food for thought, may be helpful depending on your situation. I can shoot where my computers are so for something like a “perfect” chromakey shot, this is great news for me.
