Can’t see anything in composition panel. Just a block of gray
Posted by Mary Bryant on February 23, 2013 at 2:42 amSo I’m new to After Effects and decided to use this video guide I found on YouTube but I can’t get the black window in the Composition Panel. Just a white area. I provided a screen shot.

February 23, 2013 at 5:43 amYou’ve stumped me. The interface in that image looks like the Layer Viewer rather than the Composition Viewer, but the tab at the top of the panel very clearly states that you’re viewing a Composition.
When you create a new composition do you have the same problem?

February 23, 2013 at 5:46 pmAs Darby says the interface looks like a strange mixture of the Composition panel and the Layer panel.
Try this from the Window menu select Workspace > Standard.
Then again from the Window menu select Workspace > Reset Standard.
This should restore the panels to their default locations.

February 23, 2013 at 5:55 pmI’ve tried the Windows option and that didn’t help. I’m going to uninstall and re-install now.
This is a trail version and I’m on a Win 8 PC if that affects anything.
