  • When I import into adobe After Effects the screen is black?

Posted by Ryan Crash on February 14, 2013 at 3:10 pm

Hi all, when I import a file into Adobe After Effects the image no matter what type of file is just black. I drag it into the timeline and it is still black. I am completely new to Adobe After Effects so I am stuck as to what to do? Could someone please give me some direction or advice to what seemingly is a simple issue yet one I cannot work out! Thank you very much.

    More information would be helpful.

FIrst what sort of file are you importing?

Second, tell us about your computer and operating system. (Processor, RAM, video card, Windows/Mac OS version).

Third tell us what version of After Effects. (Have you installed all the updates?)

Perhaps then someone could try to determine the problem.

Hoi there, thanks for the reply. It is when I try to import an .ai file. When importing anything else it seems to be fine?

Thank you so much for your link to the tutorials. I seemed to be able to import any other file except an .ai file. This just shows up black for some reason?
