  Motion tracking a person’s arm

  Hello!

  I’m trying to motion track the arm of my friend in order to composit a wound at it but it just won’t stick correctly using Afer Effects’ motion tracker. The wound moves.

  Next time I’d absolutely use make up but I can’t redo the shot. What can I do?

  Use mocha-AE, which comes with After Effects.

  Thanks a lot for your answer! It really helped!

  On set we put fake blood on the arm which I’m trying to motion track – pretty much like in the tutorial you showed me.

  I still have some difficulties I’m dealing with at the moment:

  1) My friend looks down at her wound and the hat she is wearing covers it. Mocha won’t detect the wound correctly after she lifts her head up again. It there a way to fix this or should I cut the sequence into piece and work on them seperately?

  2) The guys who made this tutorial uses an extra script to import Mocha’s data after tracking. Is there any possibility to get the same result without the script? It’s 39$ as far as I’ve seen…

  Yes, you can split the shot into pieces and work on each separately.

  No, you don’t need that script.

  Personally I really like using the Mocha Import script that Mathias sells. Mocha data can be used in so many ways in AE it can sometimes be confusing what data to use and in what manner. At $39 I felt it was a good investment, especially if you for see using Mocha a lot.
