  Remove moving dust from footage

  Hi,

  I have a video about 20 minutes long, which the camera (iPhone 5) had a piece of dust/scratch on. The piece of dust doesn’t stay still though, as I believe the image stabilisation on the iPhone causes the movement. Here is a sample of the video (I have blurred out the people and the dust is about a quarter of the way up and a third of the way from the left.   Is there any way of removing/reducing the dust?

  I am completely new to after effects. So, please give as much information.

  Well how much time and paint skills do you have? There’s no magic bullet for that. It’s a bit too erratic. The horrible image stabilization doesn’t help.

  If you know about track mattes, I bet you could use that black dust point to create a sort of luma mask attached a blurred out version of your BG. Then it would be much less visible.
