  Tracking camera movement (panning) in order to overimpose an object

  Hi there

  We have a panning shot of the facade of a bulding and in the middle of it we would like to overimpose a title.
  We have tried motion tracking the clip with two tracking points, position and rotation. We have parented the title we want to overimpose to a null object. We have then parented the position of the null object with the feature centre of the track point. This seems to
  work for the position but we are stuck with the rotation (we’ve tried to parent the rotation of the null object with the attach point but the title just spins…)
  Any help would be greatly appreciated, we’ve scouted the internet with no luck whatsoever..

  We have parented the title we want to over impose to a null object. We have then parented the position of the null object with the feature center of the track point.

  It seems that you have missed some points in Motion Tracking.

  In case you want to stay with AE in-built Motion Tracker.

  Adjust the position and rotation of painting layer the way you want it.

  After the tracking process, you just have to Apply the tracking data to a Null object and then Parent your Painting layer to the Null object.

  Though I would like you to follow what Tom has suggested i.e. using Mocha for the tracking process.

  Mocha should be able to do the trick. However it may be that a camera solve from Camera Tracker may give you a easier solution.

  Vishes when you say “After the tracking process, you just have to Apply the tracking data to a Null object” do you mean copy the keyframes of the “Feature Center” of the tracker point to the.. position of the null.. or ..?

  We’re having a go at Mocha too, guess for issues with that it’s a different forum (hopefully not!)

  You don’t have to copy the key-frames of tracker to Null. Just Apply the tracking data to the Null Object.
