  audio skipping and mismatch

  hi.
  i have a video shot on a mobile in mp4. it plays allright on mobile or pc (using vlc player or any other player). problem is when i import this video in after effects, audio gets mismatched. it skipps randomly. the problem is in both ram preview and output.. as can be seen in screen shot given below, there is no audio in last minute or so of the video. in the part where there is audio, it is mismatched and skips randomly…
  same problem occurs with many other videos, on another pc i work with and after effects cs5 and cs6 both. im new to after effects and this problem is making it hard to work with it… please help somebody..

  A lot of cell phone codecs are variable frame rate which aren’t suitable for editing. I would suggest using VLC to convert the video to a constant frame rate (Something like MOV/M-JPEG so it doesn’t lose much quality) to see if that fixes the issue.

  Convert the .mp4 file to .mov with PNG codec wich is almost lossless using Adobe Media Encoder.

  Adobe Media Encoder is worth a try, but I hear from the Adobe Forums that it may not convert properly.

  Why do you say “almost”? The PNG codec is entirely lossless at the highest quality setting.

  I was not exactly sure about it as I have read in some articles that PNG codec 95% lossless. Thanks for clearing my doubt. I will keep that in mind.
