Dark spots
I’m helping a friend with some video editing and some strange things started happening.
At first we edited in iMovie and exported the project in
.mov
1920*1080p
44100khz
29.97fpsand it plays back fine on his mac, but when i open it in either vlc/Premiere Pro/After Effects or media player, dark matter starts appearing in some scenes, at first i thought it was the camera but the matter only showed on my windows pc not his mac.
What could it be? i’ve tried googleing it but i found nothing… might be searching for the wring thing?
I hope somebody can help me 🙂I turned up the brightness so it is easier to see 🙂

.mov is a video cantainer.
What codec(prores,.h264,etc) have you used for exporting through imovie?
Check whether you have that codec intalled in your Windows pc or not.Vishesh Arora

I would suggest you to convert it using a different codec.
.h264 use temporal or interframe compression which creates problem for AE.
Convert .mov to animation or PNG codec.
It might solve your problem.
But the file isn’t playing in VLC too. This might be the hardware issue.
Also check and compare the specs of you PC and Mac.

okay iI solved it 🙂 it looks like it was some kind of shadow compensation, don’t really know what caused it but it was an easy fix, iI just turned down the brightness in the color that was compensating for the darkness 🙂
