  Importing PP in layers/cuts to AE?

  PP and AE are both CS5.

  I’m working on a final project form my video editing class and I’ve completed my editing in PP. It looks nice and all, but I’m hoping to kick it up a notch with some AE work (there’s a $50 prize and bragging rights for the best in class).

  The problem is that when I import the PP file to AE it is as a single, uninterrupted video. I’m positive I’ve imported before so that it kept the layers and cuts separate but that must have been with a previous version.

  What am I doing wrong? I’ve tried just a regular import and a dynamic link.

  You can simply copy the clips from your PP timeline and paste them into an AE timeline.

  I don’t see how.

  Neither click & drag, nor cut/copy & paste have any effect.

  I’ve tried using keyboard shortcuts and the pull-down menus to copy and paste.

  I just tried copy/paste from PP to AE and it works. I also imported a PP project into AE, chose my PP sequence and this too works.

  Try to restart your comp and give the procedures another try. If things are still funky, then come back with more details on your OS, RAM, CPU, AE/PPro versions (please ensure that they’re updated) and AE settings for memory.
