Composition Showing Solid Colours Over Imported Footage.
Hi Everybody,
I am trying to begin work on a composition. I have imported a .mov exported from Final Cut Pro 7 from a Sony EX3 ready for work in AE CS5.5.
I imported the clip into AE and placed it in the timeline by dragging the file from the Project Window to the Create a New Composition button.
When I play the footage through AE, it ends up looking like this:
As you can see a solid red colour has covered the image in blocks and as the character moves the blocks move around seemingly in no real pattern until the whole image is covered in red. I am completely baffled. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

What codec did you use for the .mov file?
What system are you on- Windows/Mac?
What OS?
What version of AE?
System specs can be helpful as well.
Remember to add the above info as it makes it easier to narrow down the issue.
From the looks of it it could be a compression problem or a videocard setting.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Thanks for replying.
The codec: XDCAM EX 1080p25 (35Mb/s VBR)
The OS: Mac OS X Version 10.7.5
Version: AE 5.5I’ve never used XDCAM footage before so do you think it might be worth converting it to something like ProRes 422? I shall include this kind of information next time I have a query.

I have just converted the footage to Apple ProRes 422 and now it’s working fine. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction with the codec information. 🙂

CS 5- yep that would be a codec issue – glad you solved it.
