  Problem: Physics Particles are Flat Grey Swatch [screenshot incld]

  For some reason, I am not able to adjust the color of this particle layer, even though I have another particle layer below it that I had no issues with.

  The particle effect stubbornly remains a matte grey swatch and the options to change the birth and death colors are greyed out.

  I believe you are using Lens Convex, Lens Bubble ,etc (Any lens particle emitter) as your Particle Type.

  These particles take color from the solid on which you have applied the CC Particle World effect.

  Select the Solid, Press ” Cntl/Cmnd + Shift + Y ” and change the solid color that you want.

  You can also apply Fill or Ramp Effect to a different color to the particles.
