Recreate an animation with replicator
Posted by Alexander Zhurovich on January 26, 2019 at 11:07 amHi everyone,
I’m a Motion noob, so I need your help. Can someone tell, if it’s possible to recreate the transition animation shown below with a replicator or any other Motion mechanism in order to get this composition more controllable — by a rig, for example?
In other words, I can’t figure out how to move a source image inside a replicator cell. Seems like currently it’s not possible, but maybe I don’t know some alternative way, besides banal keyframing.

January 29, 2019 at 2:42 pmThat’s what I do actually. But I’d like to change the number of segments while working with the transition in FCPX. That’s why I wanted to automate the animation — to get it controllable.

January 29, 2019 at 5:18 pmYes, some kind of a set of snapshots. That’s an obvious way. Just thought, maybe there’s some more advanced solution for that. More elegant, if I may say so.

January 29, 2019 at 5:28 pmAnd if it’s transitions that you’re not going to make a lot of adjustments to, like you would in a big template, I’d just make multiple versions. A 4 split, an 8 split, etc. It’s often faster and more visual to just grab a different one from the transitions browser than to open the inspector and pull down an option. More difficult to create in Motion as well.
